Part-time Line Cook – Days and Evenings

Hearthstone staff demonstrates a genuine interest to work with members of the Hearthstone Club by promoting their independence, wellness and delivering the highest standard of customer service in the industry. We are seeking a creative and energetic line cook for our food and beverage outlets who can deliver a high level of quality and exceptional dining experience for our members and their guests. The incumbent has the ability to work independently and as part of a team and can tolerate heat from kitchen area and occasionally work under crowded, noisy, and messy conditions, lift heavy objects (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs) and walk short distances and stand throughout most of the shift. Flexibility in availability is essential (days, evenings, nights and weekend) although preferences will be considered if the schedule warrants.

The ideal candidate has successfully earned a post secondary certificate with Cook 1 designation from a recognized culinary institute, and must possess a valid Food Handling certificate. A minimum 1-2 years experience with the ability to achieve positive results in quantity food preparation, catering and line cooking in a variety of dining environments is essential. The incumbent has the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility in availability is essential (days, evenings, nights and weekend) although preferences will be considered if the schedule warrants.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Delivery of exceptional customer service at all levels of departmental contact
· Meal preparation and cooking for dining, pub and catering outlets from pre-determined menus and recipes
· Ensure product knowledge , quality and food presentation is consistent to standards
· Ensure kitchen and all equipment is maintained and cleaned as instructed
· Assist with receiving and inventories
Train new kitchen staff as instructed by the Food & Beverage manager
Comply with Public Heath department, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards Act and corporate policies
